Easy Healthy Granola

It makes 12 cups (36 servings of 1/3 cup).

Dry ingredients:Healthy Granola

– 6 cups old-fashioned oats (non-quick oats)
– 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk (optional)
– 1 cup whole wheat flour
– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ to 1 cups raw unsalted sunflower seeds
– 1 to 2 cups slivered almonds
– 1 cup raisins
– 1 cup chopped cranberries (or other dried fruit)
– 1 cup coconut (optional)

Wet ingredients:

– 1/2 cup oil
– 1 cup water
– 3/4 cup brown sugar
– 1 tsp. vanilla

Step 1:

Mix the dry ingredients into a large bowl.

Step 2:

Mix the oil, water, brown sugar and vanilla with a whisk. Pour mixture over dry ingredients. Stir until well combined.

Step 3:

Spread granola mixture on a large baking sheet (or two small). Bake at 200 degrees for 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until golden and almost dry. Occasionally stir to break into bite-sized pieces.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Use as cold cereal or on top of yogurt and fruit.

    I use the recipe all the time. I have been decreasing the amount of brown sugar– I follow everything but only put in 1/4 cup of brown sugar. I usually use dates and coconut and they give a sweetness to the granola so that I decrease the brown sugar.
