Week 18 of Pregnancy
We had our sonogram this week!! I had been looking forward to it with excitement and anticipation. Would we really learn the gender of our baby?
Many of you saw this picture I posted the day of the sonogram. I asked you on Facebook to vote: 10 voted for a boy and 12 voted for a girl. I was so excited that day I couldn’t do anything the last 2 hours before we left for the sonogram appointment.
At the Imaging Center
The first image we saw of our baby it’s fist were punching out and legs were kicking (I had read that if you drink cold water before the sonogram, the baby would likely be awake and moving with your bladder full of cold water). I don’t know if that was really the reason, but I was so glad to see the baby moving, and the heart beating in the 150 range.
We had the sonographer write down the sex of the baby on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope. We wanted to find out during a romantic dinner, not while in the room while I was lying on my back.
At the Japanese Steakhouse
We treated ourselves to a dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse and were thoroughly entertained at dinner. I think we were more entertained just because we were happily anticipating finding out the baby’s sex with dessert!!
When our cheesecake arrived, we both opened the envelope at the same time, then took out the paper at the same time and saw “411” written on the paper. “What?!” We expect to see the word “boy” or “girl”, but instead was written something we did not understand at all!! We took the picture and ate dessert, trying to figure it out, asking all the staff at the Japanese restaurant. No one could figure it out. We thought we would have to call the Imaging Center the next day.
Then, when Matt was writing the tip out, he observed that he wrote his seven’s with a cross and then thought – what is a 7 backwards? An F?? Female!! We are having a GIRL!!!!! The sonographer had written an F that was underlined twiced. Haha!
We told our family the next night. Matt had bought a cute little pink onesie that said “I love Momma”. I hid it under my coat until the time came to announce it. I’m some excited to buy other cute girl clothes!!
So, looks like I’m going to get my gray nursery with pink and pale yellow accents! I can’t wait to start planning!!
UPDATE: What makes this an even funnier story – the baby turned out to be a BOY!!
Our little “June Bug’s” Growth
We’ve been taking photos since week 6 and showing a fruit or vegetable in the picture that is the same size as our little “June Bug”. Last week: length of a turnip (5 inches long and weighs 5 ounces) This week: our baby is the length of an onion (5 1/2 inches long and weighs 8 1/2 ounces):
