I have so many friends who are pregnant right now – including my youngest sister!! Wahoo – we are bump sisters! So, I thought I would put together a fun new mom gift guide. You can use this resource for picking up some quick Christmas gifts for you friend (or sister), or to make a list for their baby shower. As a mom who is prepping for baby #2, here are some things I would totally appreciate:
1. Postpartum Herbal Sitz Bath or Bath Teas
Once that Momma has had her baby, she can enjoy soaking in luxurious hot baths once again!! These bath teas are a great aid to perineal and vaginal healing, as well as a c section incision (once cleared to get wet). I have a friend who makes them using a combination of herbs, salts, and essential oils. I’m stocking up for the next baby!!
2. Gift card for coffee
Getting a gift card for a coffee shop will allow the new mom to pick her choice of caffeine to keep herself going. Coffee, Tea, and awesome Chai Tea Latte.
3. An awesome water bottle
New moms, especially breastfeeding moms will be SO THIRSTY in the early days. Plus drinking all that water is so important for healing and recuperating. Something like this Camelbak water bottle is what I’m thinking about. That way it’s easy to drink from any position – lying down, with a baby in your arms, in a rocking chair, etc.
4. Comfortable nursing tank top and stretchy pants
I know as a new mom last time, I didn’t have enough comfy, stretchy pants on hand so I resorted to wearing short skirts (it was summer time). This time, I want to make sure I have some stretchy pants and shorts on hand. Plus, I did live in my sleeping nursing bras and nursing tank tops for the first month or so.
5. One-handed snacks/food
What energizing snacks would be good for a new mom? I know I loved chocolate-covered almonds postpartum!! Here are some other ideas:
- granola bars
- trail mix
- chocolate-covered nuts
- yogurt-covered fruit
- bran muffins
